A research workshop on Thursday 23 May, 10.00-16.00 at FutureLearn, Camden, will look at ‘Financialization: in search of some much-needed coherence in its operationalization and in future empirical research' and is led by Pauline Gleadle, ICAEW member and Visiting Professor, The Open University (FASS)/Emeritus Professor University of Westminster, and Stuart Parris (OU Economics).
Mentions of financialization, with its direct relationship to corporate governance particularly in both the UK and the US, have increased dramatically since 2008, within both the academic literatures and the mainstream press. However, what has been largely lacking to date is agreement as to what financialization actually is, something to be addressed in this workshop, focusing largely on the non-financial corporation (NFC).
As discussion of financialization has spread across many academic disciplines, this is reflected in our line-up of speakers. Confirmed presenters to date include Mike Pryke, (OU Geography), Stuart Parris (OU Economics), Pauline Gleadle (Critical Accounting), Philip Kern (International Management, Loughborough-London), Hanna Szymborska (OU Economics), Daniele Tori (OU Faculty of Business and Law) and Gerhard Schnyder (International Management, Loughborough-London).
Tea/Coffee will be available from 9.30am and lunch will be provided.
The event is free to attend. If you would like to participate please register via this Eventbrite link, mentioning any special dietary requirements:
