Seeking new research advisory board members

ICAEW is seeking new members to join its Research Advisory Board which is responsible for advising on ICAEW’s support and promotion of academic research.

Board members comment on ideas for academic research to support policy makers; input to research initiatives relevant to the accounting profession and linked to the ICAEW’s thought leadership work; and work to foster closer links between the academic community and the wider profession on research issues.

The Board has two academic vacancies and welcomes applications from:

  • Established academics with expertise in auditing and with qualitative research skills.
  • Early career researchers – junior faculty with around 2-3 years’ experience post PhD.

Applicants will be active researchers who have published in high quality academic journals and are recognised by the academic community. They may be based in a university in the UK or elsewhere. They do not need to be an ICAEW member but they will need a good understanding of the issues that are important to the accountancy profession and the work of ICAEW members.

Successful candidates will join the Board in June 2020 for a first term of two years. The Board meets 3 times a year, usually in March, June and October. Meetings are held on a Friday from 10.30am to 1.00pm.

These are voluntary positions but expenses will be reimbursed. Meetings are held at Chartered Accountants’ Hall in London.

For more information and to apply please contact Gillian Knight at or +44 (0)20 7920 8478.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 31 January 2020
