Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)

I work for ICAEW part of my role involves working with HEIs to award CPL. We try to work collaboratively with HEIs to recognise existing content within Accounting and Finance related degree programmes that mirror learning outcomes within the current ACA syllabus.

ICAEW utilise CPL when students have already undertaken high quality learning and assessment in a relevant qualification to avoid duplication of the knowledge and skills already obtained. We want our students to succeed so it is important that the CPL process is robust.

We do not wish to dictate syllabus or teaching techniques to HEIs or present an additional burden of regulation to be adhered to, although CPL is a regulated process.

I am interested to know what your experience of CPL is and what (if anything) frustrates you or concerns you about ICAEW’s current CPL policy and processes?
