The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill was introduced to the House of Commons and given its First Reading on Wednesday 20 May 2020. This stage is formal and takes place without any debate. MPs will next consider all stages of the Bill on 3 June 2020.
Amongst other things, the Bill introduces a moratorium for companies in short term financial difficulty, with specific provisions reflecting the impact of COVID-19.
