In our first regional newsletter, I said that 2017 is going to be an exciting and challenging one for ICAEW in Europe. And it has been.
We are talking about the big issues: informing the Brexit debate; tackling intergenerational fairness and proposing a framework to help address it; and contributing to reforms in global audit standard-setting.
At a recent Contact Members meeting, we committed to reaching out further to members in 2018. Lots of great suggestions were made on what initiatives members might like to see. Get in touch with the team or your Contact Member if you want to get involved.
More on all of this and our recent activity around the region is in our newsletter so please read on.
We look forward to continuing this newsletter next year and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

ICAEW used to do an an annual tour of Brussels for members. Seems it has been discontinued since last few years.
Hello – yes, we have in the past organised ‘information visits’ to Brussels for the UK regions and district societies. We’re always open to receiving visits where there is interest. But there are also other ways to find out more and get involved. Given the changing context of UK-EU relations, we have now, for instance, a dedicated section on the website which provides more information on Brexit (icaew.com/Brexit). And the Europe Region team are always happy to explain what various EU related initiatives may mean for members.
