The future of audit and the profession, are we ready to embrace and optimise the changes?

At a recent event members had the chance to interact with the 691st Lord Mayor of the City of London and fellow ICAEW member Peter Estlin. Inevitably the conversation turned first to Brexit and then to the future of audit and the profession, both of which have seen heavy investment by ICAEW to ensure its voice is heard and which you can follow on our web pages. Refreshingly  quickly the focus switched from what we can’t impact to what we can – IR4.0 making ourselves and our customers ready to embrace and optimise the changes. To support this we have launched a new eLearning experience supporting digital transformation - free to ICAEW members. We have partnered with Deloitte to develop Finance in a Digital World, a suite of online learning modules, to support ICAEW members increase awareness and build understanding of digital technologies and their impact on finance. You can join the thousands of other members who have taken advantage of this at https://www.icaew.com/technical/technology/finance-in-a-digital-world and while you’re there why not join our free online communities to get connected to the latest thinking and exchanges on a host of relevant topics that you choose.

2019 sees the 10th anniversary of ICAEW setting up its regional office structure. We continue to invest into the SEA market with events and activities to support members directly and to build the ICAEW brand and reputation with current and future business professionals and stakeholders. I’m particularly looking forward to an extra special Regional Business Challenge for undergraduates in May as well as several celebratory member events to mark the past decade later in the year. As always, if you or your businesses want to get more involved in what we do please do contact me – your support is invaluable to the Institute, your fellow members and the future of the profession.
