The Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) has been consulting on a Taxpayer Charter for Wales and ICAEW Tax Faculty made some suggestions.
There was a consultation on a proposed Welsh Revenue Authority Charter with an online questionnaire which we completed.
We also submitted a document with our thoughts on how the WRA should proceed Welsh Revenue Authority Charter Consultation.
Charters need to provide a clear understanding of what is expected of the tax authority and of the taxpayer.
The draft Welsh Charter needs to be more explicit as to how the taxpayer can complain, and seek redress, if things do not work out as they think they can reasonably expect they should.
We also support the suggestion in an earlier consultation that there should be an annual, public, report as to how things have gone and this should be along the lines of the UK report on developments around the UK Your Charter.
