HMRC seeking assisted-digital businesses and landlords to test MTD record-keeping software

As part of its private beta testing of MTD for business, HMRC is looking for:

  • self-employed businesses and landlords who are assisted digital (ie. those who have a low level of digital capability or skills or need accessible software to be able to engage digitally) and
  • are willing to work with HMRC to test record-keeping software and
  • do not expect to be exempt from MTD or who may be exempt but are inclined to comply voluntarily

Those who are willing to participate in this trial should either:

  • complete a survey for volunteers or
  • if a potential volunteer has difficulty completing the survey, they should instead contact Chris Kelly of HMRC on 03000 568924

Volunteers are requested by 22 February 2017.

The Tax Faculty would be grateful if members in practice could pass this request on to self-employed businesses and landlords that may meet the criteria. HMRC is not currently seeking to recruit volunteer agents – a request for agents to volunteer was published previously; thank you to those agents who volunteered to participate in that trial.
