HMRC’s forum for tax agents is now fully up and running having been launched in July 2017 following a pilot. The forum is open to all ICAEW members who are tax agents.
The online forum provides agents with the opportunity to raise potential widespread issues with tax systems and processes, to post evidence in support of issues raised by other agents, and to receive updates on these issues from HMRC.
The forum has replaced online Working Together meetings. Working Together continues - the Issues Overview Group, which has representatives from the main professional bodies, will continue to monitor the issues being raised on the forum and press HMRC to take appropriate action. Suitable topics from the forum will be selected and developed into Talking Points webinars for agents.
How do you join?
The Agent Forum is hosted in a private area of the HMRC Online Forum which is solely for agents. There are two steps to follow: enrol on the HMRC Online Forum (step 1) and request access to the Agent Forum (step 2).
Go to https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/webchatprod/community/forums/list.page
Click on “Register” in the top right hand corner of the page.
Read and (if you are content) click “I agree to these terms”.

Once you have completed step 1, you then need to request access to the private Agent Forum. You do this by emailing email@example.com with the following identity information:
Once you’ve emailed HMRC, they will be in touch to confirm that you have access to the Agent Forum.
