TAXtalk – watch the April 2016 edition again now

Panama, paying tax by credit card and property tax under discussion
If you missed the live edition of our free April 2016 TAXtalk you can watch it again now.
Anita Monteith was joined by Frank Haskew, Head of the Tax Faculty and Peter Allen, technical manager, for discussions ranging from the hot topic of Panama and country by country reporting, to revised charges which now apply for those paying their tax by credit card.
The team also discussed the latest changes to property taxation, including the introduction of the additional 3% SDLT on the purchase of second residential properties greater than £40,000, which became effective on 1 April 2016.
In other property news, from 1 April 2016 the ATED (annual tax on enveloped dwellings) threshold is reduced from £1,000,000 to £500,000, which brings many more properties into the ATED net. The TAXtalk discussion reminded viewers that even properties covered by an exemption (commercial let, for example) will require a nil return to be submitted by 30 April.
