Withdrawal of electronic data interchange for PAYE

HMRC has announced in its latest PAYE service availability and issues guidance that it will be decommissioning the electronic data interchange (EDI) channel and replacing it with an existing XML service by April 2018.

Current EDI users will need to migrate away from the service before the deadline to move to the XML channel. This will strategically position all of HMRC’s PAYE operations across the UK on the same platform.

This also means there will no message implementation guidelines produced for the 2017/18 end-of-year returns P11D and P11D(b). From April 2018, these messages will need to be submitted in XML over the internet.

HMRC invites users to complete the feedback form to enable the Department to gain a better understanding of how they can effectively support users and businesses during the transition to the XML/internet channel.
