  • I have been trying to contact the HMRC online services helpline for corporation tax because I was finding it difficult to submit the computations and CT600 for the first periods of a new company covering 12 months and 11 days using the HMRC software.
After holding on for about 8 minutes, and later for over 20 minutes, I gave up.
0300 200 3600 is an expensive number to call.  Why can't HMRC also give a landline number (01, 02, etc) which can be covered in the "minutes" packages for BT and mobile providers?  0845 numbers, which HMRC previously used, are included in such packages.

I have been receiving demands for payment that have already been paid. I have tried ringing 0300 200 3817 to explain this many times.
The phone number provided is audible initially but once the first number option has been selected my audible acuity is unable to pick up the second set of recorded options.
I have tried faxing 03000 518344 many times but each time the print out says “ BUSY “ whatever time of day or night I have tried to fax you.
Please supply a fax number that I can communicate with your employees or a land line number which caters with those whose audible acuity is less than perfect.
    Thank you

We tried yesterday to file many PAYE returns (we use SAGE payroll) and they wouldn't send (due to HMRC service issues) but usually it carries on trying in the background while we get on with other work. We tried to send more last night (on overtime) and again they didn't go. We expected to come in this morning to find them having be filed overnight - nothing. We rang the helpdesk and they cut us off as they are too busy.

This is just not good enough. They shortened the filing deadline by a month which won't have helped the traffic volume and now cannot resource their systems effectively to enable compliance.
